TOO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ARE TAKING THEIR OWN LIFE.
In 2019 in Australia, 461 young people aged between 15 and 24 died by suicide. Right now we know that of the 1 in 4 young people experiencing a mental health difficulty, only 30% will get the help they need. And suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people in Australia.
HOW REACHOUT IS GETTING YOUNG PEOPLE THE HELP THEY NEED.
After friends and family, the internet is the first place young people turn to for information and support. That’s where ReachOut Australia comes in.
ReachOut is there for young people – 24/7. We offer practical tools, tips and advice that helps young people handle whatever life throws at them. We can even help them feel better when they’re not sure what the problem is.
ReachOut helps young people be well and stay well, provides connection and shared stories through peer support, and builds confidence to seek professional help if needed.
More than that, we also help young people by providing information, peer support, one-on-one telephone support for parents and carers, and resources for schools and educators.
Last year, ReachOut provided support to more than 3.6 million people, but until the youth suicide rate is zero, it’s not enough.
By taking part in Run4Life you’ll be helping us raise much-needed funds to reach more young people in need of help.
